Today I am referencing a song that I have written about before but I just love it and it's totally today's mood.
Queens of the Stone Age, my favorite band, have a few versions of the song Suture Up Your Future. Today's song of it will be referring specifically to the re-recorded version from inside of the catacombs. ANY of the recordings of this song are totally worth the listen. I hope it makes you feel as inspired as I do when I hear it.
Suture Up Your Future, Queens of the Stone Age, Alive in the Catacombs
It starts off so slow, then builds into an explosion. You can feel it pull you forward, launching you into the next steps whether you like it or not. The melody is so hypnotizing, so simple and comforting. Josh Homme lulls us in with his almost ghostly tone.
This version really resonates because of the softness of it. The choral of voices adds so much eeriness, and the lack of percussion keeps you on the edge of your seat, ready for something to happen.
I like to imagine this as an invitation to progress. In what is totally up to you. It can be so vague that you progress in everything, or so specific that you can hold your breath for 10 seconds longer. This is a chance that you can't pass up. Grab hold and run!
